The new figures
Contracts signed on or after 3 October 2026: at least HK$5,220 a month, plus a food allowance of at least HK$1,236 if food is not provided free. Contracts signed before that date keep the rate in force when they were signed — HK$5,100 for contracts signed from 30 September 2025.
Your contract date decides your wage
A new minimum applies to contracts signed on or after its start date. If your contract was signed before, your wage stays at the rate for your contract until you sign a new one. That is why our calculator asks when your contract was signed, not when you started.
If you are renewing
A renewal is a new contract, so a renewal signed on or after 3 October 2026 must pay at least HK$5,220. A contract signed before then keeps its rate until it ends: the new figure does not raise it.
